Adaptive Behavioural Supports

The Adaptive Behavioral Supports (ABS) service provides consultation services to assist families with children with disabilities and behaviours of concern. Under the supervision of a Registered Social Worker and a Registered Psychologist, ABS Consultants assist families with designing and implementing strategies to help their child meet their needs through alternative (non-problem) behaviour. Time-limited consultation is available to referred individuals receiving funding through the Calgary and Area Child and Family Services Authority.

Program Goals:

  • Assisting families to understand behaviour of concern, develop supports, and help families to implement strategies to assist the child
  • Provide education and training to parents

  • Behaviour assessment
  • Collaborative development of strategies to help the child
  • Recommend support strategies
  • Coach parents

The Adaptive Behavioural Supports offices are found at 210, 495 36 Street NE, Calgary, T2A 6K3

Consultants provide services within the family’s home and relevant community environments at the convenience of the family (including after school and evening hours).

Hours of Support:

Office hours for the Support Approach team: Monday to Friday; 0830 to 1630. After-hours contacts will be received the next business day.
